Aegis has opened a new contact center in Peru. Located in the Lima's historic downtown, the new center will employ 300 with plans to expand to 2,000.
Peru, as of 2011, is one of the world's fastest-growing economies with a 7% growth rate. It has an emerging, market-oriented economy characterized by a high levels of foreign trade. The economy of Peru is classified as "upper middle income" by the World Bank and is ranked as the 42nd largest economy in the world.
Fernando Padron, Country Head Aegis Peru, stated, "We are very happy we were able to enter Peru, which adds a new flag to the Aegis Map. From here we will be offering our services to the internal Peru market, and also to the off shore markets."
Founded almost 30 years ago, Aegis is a business process services services firm with more than 55,000 employees located in 12 countries and 50 locations. Aegis manages over a billion customer interactions every year for over 300 clients and is owned by the Essar Group, the privately held Indian conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai.
This is Aegis' second move into Latin America. In October 2010 it acquired Actionline de Argentina which currently has more than 5000 employees in located in 5 different cities in Argentina.
