Info-Tech Research Group has selected Oracle Siebel as one of its Customer Service Management (CSM) champions to effectively manage customer service requests and retain clients.
“Over the last few years there has been an explosion in the volume of customer interactions due to the popularity of newer channels,” said Tim Hickernell, Associate Lead Analyst for Info-Tech Research Group. “Customers now expect that customer service fits into their lives and is available through the channel of their choice.”
According to Info-Tech Research Group, Siebel Systems was the largest player in the market when acquired by Oracle in 2005. Since then, Oracle Siebel has continued to dominate the space.

Aegis has opened a new contact center in Peru. Located in the Lima's historic downtown, the new center will employ 300 with plans to expand to 2,000.
Peru, as of 2011, is one of the world's fastest-growing economies with a 7% growth rate. It has an emerging, market-oriented economy characterized by a high levels of foreign trade. The economy of Peru is classified as "upper middle income" by the World Bank and is ranked as the 42nd largest economy in the world.
Fernando Padron, Country Head Aegis Peru, stated, "We are very happy we were able to enter Peru, which adds a new flag to the Aegis Map. From here we will be offering our services to the internal Peru market, and also to the off shore markets."
Founded almost 30 years ago, Aegis is a business process services services firm with more than 55,000 employees located in 12 countries and 50 locations. Aegis manages over a billion customer interactions every year for over 300 clients and is owned by the Essar Group, the privately held Indian conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai.

A measure is being debated in the New Jesery Senate to discourage businesses from moving contact center jobs overseas. The proposed law would require anyone owning a contact center to notify the state labor commission of the move and would disqualify them for a period of three years from any state grants, loans or tax benefits.
The measure is aimed at Verizon, one of the state's largest employers, and is supported by the Communications Workers of America. Verizon’s has about 45,000 union employees. Earlier this month Verizon offered to buy out 1,700 of them on the land line side of their business. The union employees are currently are working without a contract and went on strike last August.
A similar measure passed the State Assembly in March.

According to Wikipedia, one of the most memorable events of MCMLXXVII (1977) was the founding of Oracle Corporation on June 16th. That year the Oakland Raiders defeated the Minnesota Vikings 32-14 in the Super Bowl, Jimmy Carter was inaugurated President, Apple Computer was incorporated, the Commodore PET, Apple II, TSR-80 and Atari 2600 were released. Popular bands included the Sex Pistols, Fleetwood Mac, Abba, Electric Light Orchestra and Lead Zeppelin played the largest indoor concert ever. Elvis Presley died and Joey Fatone (of 'N Synch) was born. The movie Star Wars made its debut.
Less than a decade later Oracle went public with revenues of $55 million and 450 employees worldwide. Today Oracle has revenues of $37 billion and a workforce of 109,000 employees.
A memorable achievement indeed.
